Chivor Reports New Emerald Production In Excess Of 2000 Carats.

The recent production has occurred in the south end of the mine, which is being developed from the Dixon level opened up earlier this year.  with a plan which calls for mining all promising veins on a systematic basis, to eliminate the risk that emeralds could be missed because part of the vein was not mined. As a result, several new vein complexes are now being comprehensively mined, including those from which recent production has occurred.

The company has been achieving progressively better operating results at the mine while at the same time, cash costs have been reduced considerably from earlier levels. At the end of September the company had approximately US$0.9 million in cash.
