Chisso licenses 'Novon' biodegradable plastics.


By acquiring the license from U.S. based-Warner-Lambert to make and sell its "Novon" biodegradable plastics Biodegradable plastics are plastics that will decompose in the natural environment. Biodegradation of plastics can be achieved by enabling microorganisms in the environment to metabolise the molecular structure of plastic films to produce an inert humus-like material that is less  exclusively in Japan, Chisso, Tokyo Tokyo (tō`kēō), city (1990 pop. 8,163,573), capital of Japan and of Tokyo prefecture, E central Honshu, at the head of Tokyo Bay. , Japan, has plunged into the biodegradable plastics market. Novon polymers are starch-based fully biodegradable plastics the initially found use in compost compost, substance composed mainly of partly decayed organic material that is applied to fertilize the soil and to increase its humus content; it is often used in vegetable farming, home gardens, flower beds, lawns, and greenhouses.  bags, specialty goods and loose fill.
