Chisso, Kobe University to Create New Company for Thermoresponsive Magnetic Nanoparticle Therma-Max.


Tokyo, Japan, July 27, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Chisso announced on July 25 that it will establish Magnabeat Inc. in collaboration with Kobe University It was established in 1949, and comprises nine graduate schools and eleven faculties. The university holds a total of about 15,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs.  this month. The new company, which is to be capitalized at 30 million yen ($270,000), will sell Therma-Max, a thermoresponsive magnetic nanoparticle co-developed by Chisso and Kobe University.

The new company will develop diagnostic agents and testing devices using Therma-Max. A wider range of applications is expected, including genetic and protein analysis, antigen-antibody diagnosis as well as endocrine disruptor Endocrine disruptors are exogenous substances that act like hormones in the endocrine system and disrupt the physiologic function of endogenous hormones. Studies have linked endocrine disruptors to adverse biological effects in animals, giving rise to concerns that low-level  testing.

The company will start off with an initial staff of five.
