David Wanetick, Managing Director of Chief Intellectual Property Officer, "Patent trolls acquire patents for one purpose -- collecting licensing fees. They have no interest in commercializing the patents or producing actual products. Many companies believe that they are unfairly attacked by these companies. This panel will help lay to rest misunderstandings about the nature of the trolls' business and how to effectively plan to defend against their aggression."

Mr. Ludlow, Founder and CEO of Chipworks, elaborated in a recent interview with Mr. Wanetick, "While it seems that trolls are becoming more prevalent in the microelectronics business -- their existence actually dates back more than 100 years. It is important for companies to understand how trolls operate and their licensing strategies. It's really quite simple. Their goal is to maximize money in the shortest time at the least expense. Companies need to take the most effective steps to limit their exposure and ultimately their costs."

He went on to discuss how Chipworks can assist companies to strengthen their patent portfolio. "There is an increasing awareness of the value of intellectual property in the semiconductor and microelectronics industry. Protecting this value means having to defend and assert your portfolios. In all cases the foundation of defense against aggressors is based on the range and depth of your technical knowledge as it applies to both your own and your attacker's patent technology."

David Wanetick says "We are delighted that Terry Ludlow will be a panelist on the Patent Trolls session at the upcoming Intellectual Property conference. "We know his expertise will deliver a high level of knowledge and experience about effective troll defenses."
