Chippie takes away the title.A CHIP shop which rose phoenix-like from the ashes has been named Wales' best. Finnegan's in Porthcawl, gutted by fire in January last year, beat its sister takeaway in Baglan, near Port Talbot Port Talbot (tôl`bət), town (1981 pop. 40,078), Neath Port Talbot, S Wales, at the mouth of the Avon (Afan) River on Swansea Bay. Port Talbot is a popular seaside resort. Nearby are the steelworks at Margam and the oil refinery at Baglan. , into second place at the 2008 Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition. Boss Huw Jones, 47, said yesterday: "It's like a Cinderella story." The latest award comes five years after Finnegan's on the Broadlands, Bridgend, scooped the title of Britain's best. Mr Jones, who is dad to Hannah, 18, Poppy, 16, and 14-year-old Jack, said: "The secret of our success is that not only do we use the finest ingredients, we also cook all our fish fresh."
