Burrito Giant Will Remain in Denver's Lower Downtown Historic District

DENVER -- Chipotle Mexican Grill, the burrito restaurant known for providing 'Food With Integrity,'is moving its Denver headquarters to a soon-to-be-constructed building at 1401 Wynkoop Street. Chipotle is taking more than 43,000 square feet of space atop a new Opus project that also features residential and retail space. The move into the new space is slated for late 2008.

The new office space represents an increase in space of roughly 10 percent from Chipotle's current office, affectionately known within the company as "Wazee" for its address (1543 Wazee), and gives the gourmet burrito purveyor considerable opportunity to design the space to suit its needs.

"Details have always been important to us - from each ingredient we use in our food, to our cooking methods, each individual restaurant, and the location and type of office space we take," said Steve Ells, Chipotle's founder, chairman and CEO. "This location lets us remain in the downtown Denver area that we love and that's so true to our personality, while also enjoying the amenities and benefits of a newly built building."

1401 Wynkoop is a mixed-use development offering 100,000 square feet of Class AA office space, ground floor retail and 21 luxury residential condominiums. The project, slated to be completed in the fall of 2008, is nestled along Cherry Creek with mountain views and in close proximity to all of downtown Denver's major entertainment and transportation venues.

Beyond its new office space, Chipotle maintains a relationship with Opus, which serves as landlord to Chipotle for a number of its restaurants and offices around the country.
