A new global design collaboration solution developed by ChipData Inc. will be demonstrated with semiconductor companies Infineon Technologies For the raceway, see .

Infineon Technologies AG (ISIN: DE0006231004, FWB: IFX, NYSE: IFX) was founded in April 1999 when the semiconductor operations of parent company, Siemens AG, were spun off to form a separate legal entity.
and STMicroelectronics at electronica 2000, Nov. 21-24. The solution is called Design Chain Management(TM) and dramatically speeds the time to market for electronic products by uniting suppliers, assemblers This is a list of assemblers. Hundreds of assemblers have been written; some notable examples are:

 and manufacturers.

With ChipData's Design Chain Management solution, electronics component suppliers can extend existing customer relationship management programs to the Internet. This service, now being implemented on Infineon and STMicroelectronics Web sites, allows original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly find, select and download design specifications for electronic components.

"ChipData is the first company to link the full spectrum of electronics suppliers, manufacturers, independent software vendors and contract manufacturers using an Internet-based solution," said Kevin McDonough, chief executive officer, ChipData. "By creating this seamless continuum, the Design Chain Management solution eliminates the bottlenecks in design of electronic products, which saves manufacturers a substantial amount of time during the design process."

At electronica, the leading trade fair in electronics worldwide, ChipData will demonstrate its Design Chain Management solution with live PIP(TM)2A9 queries to find and gather design data from suppliers such as Infineon and STMicroelectronics. ChipData will show how data can be accessed on a local server or from servers located around the world.

"We chose ChipData's Design Chain Management solution because it complies with the RosettaNet standard and because it helps us strengthen our commitment to global e-commerce and improved customer experience," said Ann Berry-Gallegos, senior director of U.S. communications, Infineon. "This implementation enables us to achieve more efficient data exchange, therefore, reducing our customers' design cycles and time-to-market."

ChipData's two major product offerings include a design management system and a content management system. The content management system allows suppliers to enter, edit, maintain and republish re·pub·lish

their own data. The design management system provides a direct pipeline to the latest component information by allowing designers to browse (1) To view the contents of a file or a group of files. Browser programs generally let you view data by scrolling through the documents or databases. In a database program, the browse mode often lets you edit the data. To illustrate the communication between the design management system and the content management system, ChipData will also demonstrate a Lucent Technologies OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  PIP(TM)2A9 query site at electronica.

About ChipData:

ChipData's Design Chain Management(TM) solution combines a powerful suite of tools and processes with standards-based data and Internet protocols Refers to all the standards that keep the Internet running. The foundation protocol is TCP/IP, which provides the basic communications mechanism as well as ways to copy files (FTP) and send e-mail (SMTP).  to substantially reduce time-to-market for electronic products. ChipData seamlessly links component suppliers, contract electronics manufacturers, independent software vendors and original equipment manufacturers through its collaborative, Internet-based infrastructure. The Design Chain Management solution integrates upstream From the consumer to the provider. See downstream.

(networking) upstream - Fewer network hops away from a backbone or hub. For example, a small ISP that connects to the Internet through a larger ISP that has their own connection to the backbone is downstream from the larger
of today's supply chain management systems, resulting in lower development costs, significant improvements in product development cycles and faster time-to-market.
