ChipCenter Names SwitchCore CXE-16 as 'Best Product of 2000'.

Business/Technology Editors

LUND, Sweden and SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 5, 2000

SwitchCore announced that its CXE-16, the world's first integrated 16-port Gigabit Ethernet switch chip, has won ChipCenter's Best Products of 2000 Award in networking. Nominated products were reviewed by a team of more than 80 contributing editors who voted on products that demonstrated excellence over all others in their respective fields.

ChipCenter is the premier online service, which combines marketing expertise and editorial knowledge and content. ChipCenter specializes in electronic-component information and sourcing, consolidating editorial content, demand creation, interest fulfillment and e-commerce transactions.

"With the enormous amount of innovative solutions hitting the market each month, it was a tough call. We finally winnowed down the selections by looking for products that represented more than a simple incremental change in a technology or product sector. Being engineers ourselves, we have soft spots in our hearts for elegant solutions that yield significant improvements in cost, power or performance, or open up unexpected possibilities for new applications. While not all the things we picked will succeed in the market, they all have the potential to change the way the products are designed and used," stated Senior Editor Lee Goldberg.

"SwitchCore is dedicated to building a successful line of quality products," said Kurt Busch, president of SwitchCore Corporation, San Jose, CA. "The recognition we received from ChipCenter on the CXE-16 product family is a tribute to a great engineering effort by our staff." Announced in April, 2000, the CXE-16 delivers 24 Million packets-per-second plus wire-speed QoS for Gigabit Ethernet switching applications.

Companies and their products reviewed by the ChipCenter editorial staff and if selected, move on to the semi-finalist stage of the selection process. The semi-finalists are evaluated against a stringent set of criteria. Areas considered are based on the needs of design engineers, assessing whether the product:

--lives up to the demands of engineering teams;

--will compel design engineers to adopt its use;

--embodies new technology; and

--is representative of future quality products.
