Chip pan fire in flat.


TWO people needed hospital treatment after a chip pan blaze.

Fire crews were called to Birtley Villas sheltered accommodation in Lansbury Drive, Birtley, Gateshead, on Tuesday night.

A pan left unattended in a ground floor flat had overheated and filled the building with smoke.

A man, 68, was led to safety from the flat by firefighters and was treated by paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation Smoke Inhalation Definition
