Chinsan supplies Sony's PS3 through Japanese customer Hitachi.

Simple capacitors consist of two plates made of an electrically conducting material (e.g., a metal) and separated by a nonconducting material or dielectric (e.g. , recently announced its signing of an agreement with Hitachi of Japan to extend their technical partnership by 10 to 15 years.

Chinsan will continue to contract supply radial-lead and snap-in types of aluminum capacitors for Hitachi. Through Hitachi, which does not self-produce these two types of capacitors, Chinsan will be supplying PS3 game console See video game console.  to Sony.

Hitachi has been the major supplier of aluminum foils to Chinsan for a very long period; and the two parties set up a joint venture in China 16 years ago.

Chinsan said that it began contract supplying the snap-in and radial-lead types of capacitors to Hitachi in April this year to help the Japanese brand secure its market share.

In addition to contract manufacturing business, which now accounts for 5% to 10% of Chinsan's total revenue, the capacitor maker has also been actively trying to tap into power-supply product makers' supply chains. Almost all power-supply makers in Taiwan now adopt capacitors supplied by Chinsan, with the only exception of SPI (1) (Stateful Packet Inspection) See stateful inspection.
