Chinon to showcase breakthrough sub-$500 color digital camera, 6X CD-ROM drive and 3-D viewing technology at COMDEX.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1995--Chinon America Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of CD-ROM drives CD-ROM drives, which today typically means a CD-RW drive that is a combo CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW drive, come in a variety of speeds. Chinon's new ES-1000 Pocket Digital camera is the most compact and affordable digital camera ever introduced. Priced at $499 and small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket or briefcase, the ES-1000 Pocket Digital is a versatile digital camera that takes pictures in full 24-bit color.

Operated as simply and intuitively as a point-and-shoot 35mm camera, the ES-1000 Pocket Digital is perfect for both business and home applications, ranging from real estate agents who want photos of homes they are marketing, to families who want the permanence and flexibility of digital photos of vacations and events such as weddings, birthday parties and graduations.

Joining Chinon's widely acclaimed CDS-545 4X CD-ROM drive A device that holds and reads CD-ROM discs. CyberShades, which began shipping in October, resemble sunglasses, and give users their first affordable taste of virtual reality. This immersive visual product is lightweight and inexpensive ($199), works with any 386 and above PC-compatible computer and adds a third dimension to today's hottest games, edutainment and virtual reality applications.

The CyberShades game collection includes the following titles: VR Slingshot (networking, business, tool, product, protocol) Slingshot - CSK Software's real time financial server for the Internet.

Slingshot allows the delivery of real time market data across the Internet and private intranets quickly, cheaply and securely.
, Depth Dwellers, Word Rescue, Math Rescue Math Rescue is an educational platform game released by Apogee Software in October, 1992. As the title suggests, Math Rescue revolves around solving math problems. There are floating boxes in the air, which, if touched, will transport the player inside it, where they must solve a , Wolfenstein 3D Wolfenstein 3D (originally Wolfenstein 3-D, commonly abbreviated to Wolf 3D) is a video game that is generally regarded as having popularized the first person shooter genre on the PC. It was created by id Software and published by Apogee Software.  and Descent: Destination Saturn.

Also being shown in Chinon's COMDEX booth is its widely acclaimed ES-3000 digital camera, which at $1,095 is the only digital camera on the market to offer all the features of traditional point-and-shoot film cameras. Recently, the ES-3000 was described by PC Magazine (Oct. 24, 1995) as "the filmless camera to beat" for everything from posting photos on a World Wide Web page to snapping digital photos of the family.
