Chino, Calif., Borders Store Hosts Grand Opening Celebration May 17-19.

CHINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2002

Borders(R) is celebrating the grand opening of its 25,000-square-foot store in Chino - located on the southeast corner of the Corona Expressway (I-71) and Grand Avenue - from Thursday, May 17, through Sunday, May 19. Throughout the weekend, special events are planned including Universal Music's "A Universe of Music, Movies and More," "Disney Day" and DK Publishing's "Keep It Simple Sunday."

 on Friday, May 17, when Universal Music presents "A Universe of Music, Movies and More," a day filled with trivia challenges and musical performances designed to highlight emerging local talent. The "Grand Prize Giveaway" will include a DVD player A stand-alone device that plays DVDs. It contains a DVD drive and the electronics to decode the digital video. The device may play only manufactured DVDs, or it may be able to play DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs. DVD players are cabled to a TV or home theater system for display.  and a Universe of DVDs starter set. From noon to 3:00 p.m., nouveau flamenco jazz group Benise will perform songs from their latest CD, "Spanish Nights." At 5 p.m., jazz singer Tracy Todd will amaze shoppers with her vocal abilities. Then, at 7 p.m., the popular band Que Vida! will celebrate Latin music, blending Latin jazz Latin jazz is the general term given to music that combines rhythms from African and Latin American countries with jazz and classical harmonies from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and United States.

Borders will continue the fun Saturday, May 18, with "Disney Day." The first 250 children aged 12 and under will receive cool Disney Packs and enter-to-win prizes will be awarded after each event, compliments of Disney. Come out and enjoy a Disney story time featuring popular Disney tales at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., take part in the Family Fun Craft Festival, an hour of creative arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. Throughout the day customers can enter to win gift sets as well as a grand prize, a collection of DK Keep It Simple Series books, as a part of DK Publishing's "Keep It Simple Sunday."
