Chinese violinist is guest soloist.Byline: CARL BUTLER WREXHAM Symphony Orchestra has Jiafeng Chen as soloist for their concert on November 28 at the William Aston Hall, Glyndwr University. He will be performing Elgar's violin concerto in a concert which also includes Dvorak's 7th Symphony. Born in Shanghai, Jiafeng came to Britain in 2004 to study at the Chetham's School of Music in Manchester where he was awarded the Hattori Foundation and the Manoug Parikian Prizes at the Musicians' Benevolent Fund String Awards in London, leading to an invitation to perform in the Wigmore Hall in December 2005. More recently, in 2008, he won the Ian Stoutzker Violin Prize and the Summer Term Concerto Competition at the Royal College of Music The Royal College of Music is a prestigious music school located in Kensington, London. Origins The college building was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield. in London. Jiafeng played with the Chester Philharmonic Orchestra to great acclaim in recent years. Chairman Matthew Ellis said: "We are thrilled that a violinist who is truly world class has agreed to join us.
