Chinese students head for N.Wales.


A DEAL struck by Bangor university Bangor University (Welsh: Prifysgol Bangor) is a university based in the city of Bangor in the county of Gwynedd in north Wales.  will bring more Chinese students to North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England. .

In a couple of years time up to 60 undergraduates from Hunan Agricultural University will start studying for University of Wales Affiliated institutions

Cardiff was once a full member of the University but has now left (though it retains some ties). When Cardiff left, it merged with the University of Wales College of Medicine (which was also a former member).
 degrees in computer science and computer systems engineering at Bangor's school of informatics. They will be joining 150 Chinese students already in Bangor.

The first new intake will be not be arriving until 2006 because under the agreement they will spend the next two years in Hunan gaining the language and studying skills they will need in Wales.

Angharad Thomas,Bangor's international officer said: ``Studying in the UK and in other English speaking countries is becoming increasingly popular in China due to the growth of the Chinese economy.

``It gives students an international experience and a western view on their subject along with an opportunity to develop a high proficiency in English that equips them to conduct business on their return to China.''
