Chinese State Food and Drug Administration Grants NOMOS Radiation Oncology Division Approval to Sell Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy Equipment.

CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- North American Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq:NASI) today announced that its NOMOS Radiation Oncology Division (NOMOS) has received regulatory approval from the People's Republic of China State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) to sell its PEACOCK(R) product, a serial tomotherapy system designed for the treatment of various types of cancer with intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).

Today's approval by the SFDA provides NOMOS with the opportunity to immediately sell PEACOCK in China. The Company has established relationships with distributors and maintains service personnel in China who are prepared to market, sell and service PEACOCK. The Company believes that sales in China could occur before the end of the Company's current fiscal year on October 31, 2005.

PEACOCK(R) is the principal IMRT product of the Company's NOMOS subsidiary, consisting of the Company's proprietary CORVUS(R) treatment planning software and its MIMiC(R) multi-leaf collimator. NOMOS is also in the process of registering in China its BAT(R) family of products for image-guided radiation therapy, as well as Prospera(R) I-125 brachytherapy seeds for the treatment of prostate cancer.
