The People's Republic of China's Golden Taxation Network is a key project in the country's telecommunications and information infrastructure development. This network is expected to eventually link government tax offices in every major city via a capillary capillary (kăp`əlĕr'ē), microscopic blood vessel, smallest unit of the circulatory system. &uot;We believe our NetPerformer products are the first IADs to earn formal government approval for interconnection directly to the Chinese public telephone network,&uot; continued Mr. de Fusco. &uot;We completed initial test installations within the Golden Taxation Network last year, and now that our products are approved we expect to participate in this year's build-out beginning in the spring.&uot;

ACT's NetPerformer multi-service integrated access devices were selected over competitors' products for the Golden Taxation Project because ACT offers a complete voice and data solution in a single, integrated platform that is easy to configure, install and manage. The NetPerformer products are rich in signaling features and are generally recognized for their very high quality voice-over-packet capabilities. ACT Networks' expanded its local sales and technical presence in Beijing in the fall of 1998, and officials of the Golden Taxation Bureau noted that they welcomed the opportunity to interact directly on technical and commercial matters with a vendor with a highly skilled local presence.
