China landslide death toll raised to 259: state media


The death toll from a landslide landslide, rapid slipping of a mass of earth or rock from a higher elevation to a lower level under the influence of gravity and water lubrication. The torrent of sludge buried a village of 1,000 people, including a market that was packed with people attending a "major fair," Chinese press reports have said.
