China Southern Opens All-New Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at Henan International Airport.

HENAN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 2002

China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH) (HKSE:1055), www.cs-air.com/en, the largest airline in The People's Republic of China for the past 23 years, last week held a red-ribbon cutting opening ceremony here for the largest airline maintenance hangar in China's central & southern region.

China Southern Airlines' Henan Subsidiary Aircraft Maintenance Company will use the hangar at Xinzheng International Airport, Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

Constructed at a cost of more than 5,678,000 RMB (686,868 USD), the hangar has a total construction area of 9,689 square meters. The maintenance hall spans 72 meters wide x 56 meters deep and 17.3 meters high. Three Boeing 737 aircraft can be placed in the facility simultaneously.

All facilities in the four-story auxiliary maintenance workshop are also in place. Monitored by state-of-the-art ultra-red and ultraviolet security systems, the hangar employs advanced fire extinguishing devices.

The Xinzheng-Zhengzhou International Airport is one of the largest and most modern airports in China. Completed in 1997, it boasts of direct flights to 50 cities in China. There are six flights a day to Beijing, three a day to Shanghai as well as service to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and is an all-weather airport with modern jetways. Located on the 107 National Highway halfway between Xinzheng and Zhengzhou, the airport offers convenient access to both cities.

The establishment of the hangar will aid in improving the working environment of CSN Henan Subsidiary Aircraft Maintenance Company and its maintenance quality as a whole, thus promoting the extensive application of maintenance techniques.
