China Southern has launched its newest route to Japan with its new, three-times weekly Guangzhou -- Shanghai (Pudong) -- Kitakyushu service. The airline is offering this service with its Airbus A319 or Boeing 757 aircraft. As the largest port city and a water transportation hub in Japan, Kitakyushu City is an important trade port between China and Japan. The new air route is expected to boost business and cultural ties between Japan and China's southern and eastern regions.

In addition, China Southern has launched service connecting Shenyang with Guangzhou and Sydney; Guangzhou -- Melbourne and Guangzhou -- Singapore. "The opening of these routes will further improve our International flight network in Northeast China, as well as providing more options for residents in Liaoning," said Mr. Si Xian Min, President, China Southern Airlines.

Mr. Si also said the airline also plans to increase flights linking Shanghai and Tokyo to cater to market demand.
