"The eighth year of our Los Angeles service is very fortunate as eight is the luckiest number in the world," said Mr. Li Kun, COO, China Southern Airlines. He added that the Los Angeles market, "is key for our airline as we continue to expand our passenger and cargo services throughout the world."

Mr. Li pointed out that not only has the Los Angeles operation safely moved tens of thousands of passengers to China and beyond, the airline's North America service also weathered downturns in business due from the September 11th terrorist attacks, as well as the SARS crisis.

On the Los Angeles-Guangzhou route, China Southern is a code-share partner with future SkyTeam member Delta Air Lines (www.delta.com). Offering Boeing 777 service between China and America, China Southern's Los Angeles-Guangzhou operation is the only non-stop, direct connection of any airline operating from Southern California.

In addition, China Southern is the only airline connecting the two "sister cities" of Los Angeles & Guangzhou and that LAX recently signed a "Sister Airport Relations Agreement" with Baiyun International Airport Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport or Pai Yuen Airport was the main airport in Guangzhou, China, until August 5, 2004, when it was replaced by the identically named Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, some 17 kilometers away.  in Guangzhou.
