China Pacific Inc. announces commencement of blast furnace trial operation.


HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 1996--China Pacific Inc. is pleased to announce that the company's new blast furnace blast furnace, structure used chiefly in smelting. The principle involved in this means of extracting metals is that of the reduction of the ores by the action of carbon monoxide, i.e., the removal of oxygen from the metal oxide in order to obtain the metal.  commenced trial operation Tuesday.

The new blast furnace has a capacity of 335 cubic meters Noun 1. cubic meter - a metric unit of volume or capacity equal to 1000 liters
cubic metre, kiloliter, kilolitre

metric capacity unit - a capacity unit defined in metric terms
 and would bring the group's steel production capacity up from 400,000 metric tons to 600,000 metric tons, a 50% increase.
