Contrast those findings with the most likely security mechanisms to be used by developers in Evans' Spring 2004 Worldwide Wireless Development Survey,: SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data.  connections, 14%, Public Key Infrastructure, 13% and Virtual Private Networks, 11%.

"Wireless development in China is following its own lead and this shows most clearly on the security front. As observed in our other studies of the region, security intrusions are more of a problem in China than any other area in the world. Chinese developers are coming up with their own standards, mechanisms and approaches to counter these attacks," said Brian The name Brian (sometimes spelled Bryan) comes from an Irish backround. It is of Celtic origin and its meaning may be "hill" or "strong, noble, and high"[1].  Cooper, Director of Research at Evans Data Corporation. "Chinese wireless developer's expectations for end user mobilizations are much higher compared to other wireless developers. With the largest wireless market in the world, Chinese developers are going to be very busy providing services to new users."

Other findings from the March 2004 survey of more than 600 developers in China working on wireless development:

-- Chinese Wireless developers are almost 3 times more likely to

56% of Chinese wireless developers expect to deploy RFID

within the next two years compared to 36%.

mobilize 1-10 end users in the next six months, compared to

20% of global wireless development. Further, 10% of Chinese

wireless developers expect to mobilize more than 10,000 users

within the next six months compared to 6% in the Wireless

Development Survey.
