China Academy of Telecommunication Research Selects Spirent(R) Communications for Router Test Series; Spirent Chosen for Large Scale 10-Gigabit Core Router Testing.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Spirent Communications (NYSE:SPM) (LSE:SPT), a worldwide provider of integrated performance analysis and service assurance systems for next-generation network technologies, today announced that the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has selected Spirent for large-scale testing of 10-Gigabit core routers. Spirent test solutions will enable CATR to test the performance of core routers under high-capacity configurations and extreme networks conditions found in real-world operations.

Spirent test solutions enable network equipment manufacturers and service providers to accurately measure the performance and stability of routers and switches. The test systems provide wireline packet generation and analysis, along-side sophisticated QoS models for simulation of real-world network scenarios. The CATR test environment consists of 16 ultra-high capacity 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) packet over SONET (PoS) interfaces.

The test series also will provide valuable data and experiences to telecom research organizations in China for researches and explorations on router testing methodologies.
