China's Zhong Nanhai Deploys ADC's Voice and Data Transmission Systems.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1998--

--National Government PTT Will Use ADC's Quad Fiber Loop Converter System--

ADC Telecommunications (NASDAQ: ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced that China's Zhong Nanhai, a branch of Beijing's PTT, has deployed ADC's Quad Fiber Loop Converter (QFLC) as its transmission product of choice for voice and data within the Beijing government offices.

The QFLC system will be used for carrying high-level communications, ranging from voice, data, and Internet services, in the Zhong Nanhai government offices. Zhong Nanhai represents the area in China's central government where the state council is located and is recognized as the highest area of political importance.

"We chose the QFLC because of its reliability in supplying data for mission critical services," said Liu Ying, senior engineer for Beijing Telecom. "In our government, reliability is the most important issue."

ADC's QFLC system terminates four digital E1s, converts them to an optical signal, and then converts them back to digital E1s, which are necessary to carry voice and data. The QFLC will be located at Zhong Nanhai's central exchange sites, connected in between by routers in remote sites.

"Zhong Nanhai has an extremely critical network infrastructure," said Tom Anderson, international marketing manager for ADC's Loop Transport division. "The QFLC system will help ensure reliability in their network."
