China's Beijing PTT Selects ADC's Cellworx STN to Provide Cost Effective Broadband Transport.

ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced that the Beijing province of China's PTT has selected ADC's Cellworx Service Transport Node (STN) to provide voice, frame relay, and ATM transport services for the PTT's access network. The initial purchase, 13 nodes for three STM-4c rings, represents the first international ATM virtual path ring deployment for any PTT. The total solution, which also includes ADC's ATM Access Concentrators, will be supplied and integrated through ADC's partner Gaohong Telecom Co. Ltd.

In selecting the Cellworx ATM virtual path ring solution, the Beijing PTT chose a more cost-effective architecture to SDH. The Cellworx STN system can save carriers up to 50 percent of first-cost capital savings. Through customization of the STN's network management interface, Gaohong has jointly developed a variant of the STN called the AP-900 to address the specific needs of the Chinese market.
