Dear Friends,

The Red Chilena contra la Violencia Domestica y Sexual (Chilean Network against Sexual and Domestic Violence) is very pleased to receive First Place in the Regional Contest, "For Women's Health and Against Violence," launched by the Latin American and Caribbean Women's Health Network in 2002.

This award encourages us to develop new initiatives that will bring greater awareness to the situation of violence endured by women, drawing attention to the problem of violence against women as a flagrant abuse and violation of women's human rights and demanding that policymakers give this concern the priority that it deserves in order to eradicate violence against women.

We congratulate and thank the Latin American and Caribbean Women's Health Network, especially the Coordination and the contest judges, for this inspiring and encouraging incentive to continue to work for a life free from violence and a more just and democratic society in which we all can participate, a society that puts respect for the dignity of its people first.
