-- Children on the Other Shore, a documentary film depicting the struggles and triumphs of Russian orphans adopted into American families, will be screened at the Tribeca Film Center, 54 Varick Street, New York, on June 26th at 6 pm.

A poignant and moving testament to the power of love, Children on the Other Shore opens our eyes to the real life victories of physically and emotionally challenged orphans who are given a second chance when adopted into loving families. Despite the challenges of special needs such as cerebral palsy cerebral palsy (sərē`brəl pôl`zē), disability caused by brain damage before or during birth or in the first years, resulting in a loss of voluntary muscular control and coordination. , birth abnormalities, emotional and post-traumatic disorders, the children are not only saved by their new parents, but also accepted by American society in spite of their ancestry and their physical and psychological challenges.

Children on the Other Shore was produced by Dr. Natasha-Needham, recipient of the 2003 Angel in Adoption Congressional Award About the Award

The purpose of Children on the Other Shore is to show that every child has a right to a family, a childhood and a decent life. With international adoption International adoption, or intercountry adoption, is a type of adoption in which an individual or couple becomes the legal and permanent parents of a child born in another country.  at the center of public debate in many countries, especially Russia, the question, 'Should Russian children be adopted abroad?' is discussed in the Russian Parliament with increased frequency, and international adoption is now closed in Russia. 700,000 children live in Russian orphanages - growing up without parental care, guidance or love. The filmmakers show us that the welfare of innocent, unfortunate children must transcend all forms of opposing politics, ideologies and any lingering 'Cold War' mentality. Children on the Other Shore clearly demonstrates it does not matter where orphaned children find family - on their motherland moth·er·land
