MEMBERS of a school soccer team in Africa have an extra spring in their step after being kitted out by North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  athletes.

T-shirts proudly worn by the youngsters from the Campania Junior Basic School in Gambia's capital Banjul have been provided by members of Prestatyn Running Club and Abergele Harriers.

The shirts were among the latest supplies to be taken to the poverty-ridden country by ex-headmaster Bob Munden Jones of Rhuddlan, who has visited the country about 10 times since he first went there on holiday a decade ago.

On that first visit he was shocked to see the conditions in schools.

Since then he has taken several lots of provisions for the schools and hospital, and also raised funds for the building of school premises.

"I took about 30 shirts with me and the rest were due to arrive after I had left," said Bob, who also took nurses' uniforms donated do·nate

He has now appealed to North Wales athletes to donate any trainers in good condition.
