Children get safety lessons for home and outside.


MORE than 1,000 young children from up to 35 schools across Calderdale are being equipped with vital skills to keep them safer on the streets and in the home.

Police in Calderdale have teamed up with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is the county-wide, statutory emergency fire and rescue service for the Metropolitan county of West Yorkshire, England. It is administered by a joint authority of 22 people who are appointed annually from the five Metropolitan Boroughs of , Calderdale Primary Care Trust's Health Improvement Team, Calderdale Road Safety, Metro and the Coastguard to run several advice-packed Safety for Life courses.

The course is open to year six children, aged between 10 and 11, and presents groups of pupils with a series of exciting scenarios that will require quick-thinking, common sense and safety knowledge.

Youngsters are taught about drug awareness, safety on roads, motorcycle motorcycle, motor vehicle whose design is based on the bicycle. The German inventor Gottlieb Daimler is generally credited with building the first practical motorcycle in 1885. The motorcycle did not become dependable and popular, however, until after 1900.  nuisance nuisance, in law, an act that, without legal justification, interferes with safety, comfort, or the use of property. A private nuisance (e.g., erecting a wall that shuts off a neighbor's light) is one that affects one or a few persons, while a public nuisance (e.g.  and safety and personal safety as well as hygiene and health issues, safety on buses and safety by the coast.

Calderdale Schools Liaison Officer PC Kevin Tomney said: "We hope our input will make the youngsters think about situations they may find themselves in and also think about how their actions affect other people."
