Children die in crash.


A TRAIN slammed into a bus carrying schoolchildren at a railway crossing in the French Alps The French Alps are those parts of the Alps mountain range which lie in France. They are within the regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes.

The specific subranges of the Alps that are at least partly in France include (from south to north):
 yesterday, killing six children and injuring 30 people, regional officials said.

The bus was carrying 50 students of middle school age, five adults and a driver on a field trip to the shores of Lake Geneva Geneva, canton and city, Switzerland
Geneva (jənē`və), Fr. Genève, canton (1990 pop. 373,019), 109 sq mi (282 sq km), SW Switzerland, surrounding the southwest tip of the Lake of Geneva.
, according to the gendarmes service in the Haute- Savoie region.

The dead were all children who had been on the bus, they said.

Three of the 30 injured were in serious condition.

The accident occurred near the town of Allinges, near the Swiss border.
