Children centres pledged.


MORE children's centres are to be opened in Walsall Walsall (wôl`sôl), city (1991 pop. 177,923) and metropolitan district, W central England, in the Black Country. Iron and brass founding, limestone quarrying, and the manufacture of leather goods, small hardware, plastics, electronics,  to boost early years provision.

Four new centres are due to open in the autumn in Bloxwich, Greenfield Greenfield, town (1990 pop. 18,666), seat of Franklin co., NW Mass., at the confluence of the Deerfield and Green rivers, near their junction with the Connecticut; settled 1686, set off from Deerfield and inc. 1753.  Primary School, Pheasey Park Farm Primary School and Leighswood Primary School.

Each centre is based at a school site and is being built with a pounds 2.5 million grant from Department for Education and Skills The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) was a United Kingdom government department between 2001 and 2007. It was responsible for the education system and children's services in England. On 28 June 2007 the department was split in two by Gordon Brown. .

Children's centres will offer early years education and childcare, family support including parenting skills and managing a child's behaviour, supporting parents moving back into employment and health advice.

Coun Zahid Ali, cabinet member for children's services, said: "Children's centres provide the best start in life for every child, better opportunities for parents, affordable good quality child care and stronger and safer communities.

"They will add to the current progress on meeting neighbourhood needs and developments."
