Children's VIP tour.


YOUNGSTERS from a popular youth club enjoyed a VIP visit to an historic town hall.

More than 30 children, with parents and youth helpers, were given a tour of South Shields South Shields, city (1991 pop. 86,488), South Tyneside, NE England, at the mouth of the Tyne River. It is a significant port. Shipbuilding and marine engineering are the main industries; chemicals and paints are manufactured.  Town Hall by Mayor Coun Alex Donaldson Alexander "Alex" Pollock Donaldson (born 4 December 1890 in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire) was a Scottish footballer who played for Belgrave FC, Balmoral United FC, Ripley Athletic FC, Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland, Manchester City, Chorley, .

The group, from Hartleyburn Youth Club in Hebburn, were taken into all of the reception rooms as well as the council chamber.

After the tour and a chat about the council and democracy, the mayor answered questions. He said: "They were all very polite, well behaved and a credit to their families and to Hartleyburn Youth Club."
