Childhaven and Seattle Seahawks Team-up to 'Tackle Child Abuse'.

Event Proceeds to Support Parental Development

SEATTLE -- Childhaven, a not-for-profit provider of therapeutic child care to abused and neglected children, today announce the sixth annual Seattle Seahawks 'Tackle Child Abuse' Dinner and Auction to be held Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. The sold-out event, beginning at 5:30 p.m., will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Bellevue. Proceeds from the event will benefit Childhaven's therapeutic child care program.

Premier Sponsors John and Kathy Hennessy along with Moneytree, and Washington Mutual, join Childhaven and the Seattle Seahawks sponsoring this year's benefit. Attendees will bid on items and join past and present Seahawks in honoring previous recipients of the NFL's Ed Block Courage Award. Event co-chair Mack Strong will be on hand with several of his teammates.

"Teaming up with the Seahawks to put on this annual event is one of the highlights of our calendar," said Debra Ronnholm, Childhaven president. "The money and awareness raised at this event build momentum for our programs and the fact that the Seahawks play such an important role in that demonstrates their commitment to the community and its youth."

Proceeds from the evening will go to furthering programs aimed at educating parents in what Childhaven calls P.R.I.D.E skills, a system focused on: Praise of appropriate behavior, Reflection of appropriate behavior, Imitation of appropriate behavior, Description of appropriate behavior, and being Enthusiastic.

"Our P.R.I.D.E approach uses technology much like that of a quarterback's earbud to coach parents through situations with their children," said Ronnholm. "Where the end result for a coach and quarterback is a touchdown, the goal for families in our program is creating a beneficial family environment."

About Childhaven

Childhaven is a local, Seattle not-for-profit organization that provides daily therapeutic child care to abused, neglected and drug/alcohol impacted children ages one month through five years. Most of the 267 children that can be served are referred to Childhaven by Child Protective Service and Child Welfare Service.
