Child survives crash.

A CHILD was the only survivor of a plane crash in Sudan today that killed 116 passengers and crew, state media reported.

The Boeing 737 had just taken off from Port Sudan Port Sudan (sdăn`), city (1993 pop. 308,195), NE Sudan, on the Red Sea. The country's major seaport, it handles the bulk of Sudan's foreign trade.  airport on the Red Sea coast and was heading to the capital Khartoum.

It had only flown about three miles when the captain reported he was in trouble.

The child, whose age was not given, was in a good condition after being rushed to hospital, local spokesman Salah Ali Salah Ali, Mohammed Asad and Muhammad Bashmilah are three Yemenis who, according to Amnesty International, were captured in the frame of the US extraordinary rendition illegal program and detained in CIA black sites outside any national or international juridiction.  Ahmed said.

The crash happened at around 4 am local time,in an uninhabited area about three-and-a-half miles inland from the airfield at Port Sudan.
