Child porn suspect's kids' club.

POLICE raided the home of an alleged paedophile only to find he was on a church bell-ringing trip, a jury was told yesterday.

The High Court in Edinburgh also heard that Neil Campbell, 46, looked after kids at a church after-school club.

The jury saw footage of Campbell being interviewed by detectives working on Operation Algebra - which started when a photo of a naked boy was found on a works computer.

Detective Constable Stephen Quinn said they found sick images in a plastic bag in a wardrobe in Campbell's house in Bearsden, Glasgow.

Campbell told them he was in a relationship with a man from Stepps, Glasgow, but still lived with his wife who had "an inkling" that he was gay.

When officers asked Campbell if he was sexually attracted to children he told them: "I don't mind watching but I wouldn't do anything with them."

Campbell and seven other men deny charges including possession and distribution of child porn, conspiracy to participate in the sexual abuse of children and acting together to show each other indecent photos.

Neil Strachan, James Rennie and Colin Slaven deny serious sexual offences against children as young as three months.
