Child from hell.orphan (15) HHH HHH Hubert H. Humphrey HHH Hash House Harriers HHH Hot Hot Heat (band) HHH Hunter Hearst Helmsley (aka Triple H) HHH Hou Hsiao-Hsien (Taiwanese film director) Cast: Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, Isabelle Fuhrman Plot: Grieving grieving Mourning, see there after the death of their unborn child, Kate (Farmiga) and John (Sarsgaard), decide to adopt another. They're drawn to Russian nine-year-old orphan Esther (Fuhrman), who at first appears angelic but becomes increasingly creepy creep·y adj. creep·i·er, creep·i·est Informal 1. Of or producing a sensation of uneasiness or fear, as of things crawling on one's skin: a creepy feeling; a creepy story. 2. and menacing. Kate tries to get John to see past her sweet facade and uncover Esther's dark secret before it's too late. Good points: The tension builds well in a film that's slickly made and often fairly entertaining. There's a twist you probably won't see coming. Bad points: The illogical, predictable plot is riddled with holes, and you may find the red herrings and dream sequences annoying. The final act contains very nasty violence. Should I see it? If you like unintentionally funny, over-the-top scary movies. |
