MORE INFO Gary A. Puckrein, Ph. D, President and Chief Executive
Officer of the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF,
formerly the National Minority Health Month Foundation),
founded the organization in 1998 to address the critical
need for strengthening national and local efforts to use
evidence-based, data-driven initiatives to guide programs
to eliminate the disproportionate burden of premature death
and preventable illness for racial and ethnic minorities
          and other special populations.

Healthways' Center for Health Research and NMQF recently
issued the results of a yearlong study to determine the
impact of Care Support disease management programs in areas
of identified health disparities. Results show that such
programs can significantly reduce gaps in care and drive
          statistically significant health improvements, particularly
          among older participants.
