) today announced that its Board of Directors appointed Patricia Murphy, in her capacity as Senior Vice President - General Merchandise Manager, to serve on the Executive Committee of the Company and also promoted five others to new officer positions with the Company.

Ms. Murphy came to Chico's in 1997, having previously been with Doncaster, Caribou Caribou, town, United States
Caribou (kâr`ĭb), town (1990 pop. 9,415), Aroostook co., NE Maine, on the Aroostook River; inc. 1859.
 Sportwear and Lane Bryant. She was promoted to Senior Vice President - General Merchandise Manager in April 2000. Ms. Murphy serves on the Company's Executive Committee along with Marvin Gralnick, Helene Gralnick, Scott Edmonds, Ted Marlow and Charlie Kleman.

The newly designated officers, effective December 19, 2000, include: Sher Moeller, Vice President - National Sales Manager; Pete Ryan, Vice President - Logistics; James West, Vice President - Real Estate; Janet Ydavoy, Vice President - Production & Sourcing; and David Ziel, Vice President - Construction Services.

Ms. Moeller has been with Chico's since January 1996 and has over 17 years of experience in women's fashion retailing in various field management and merchandising positions. Mr. Ryan joined Chico's in April 1996, bringing over 15 years of distribution experience in the retail industry and, most recently before joining Chico's, having been the director of distribution for over 6 years for a specialty apparel retailer operating over 300 stores. Mr. West has been working with Chico's in the real estate area for over 2 years, initially as an independent consultant and on a full time basis since March 1999. Mr. West has over 10 years of retail store real estate experience. Ms. Ydavoy joined Chico's in October 1999, having been involved in the management of apparel sourcing activities for over 13 years with companies such as Haggar Apparel, Brenco Apparel, County Seat and, most recently before joining Chico's, Mast Industries. Mr. Ziel has been with Chico's since April 1998. Prior to joining Chico's, he spent over 6 years coordinating store construction and site identification for a national chain of video rental stores.

Marvin Gralnick, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Chico's sells exclusively designed, private-label women's casual clothing and related accessories. The Company operates a chain of 246 stores in 39 states and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). . The Company owns 235 stores, franchisees own 11.
