Oh, fans of filmdom, the summer flick season is heating up, so never mind what they're saying in the media about no one going to the theaters anymore.

And "Revenge of the Sith" be damned. Besides, you've already seen it; go see something with some legs.

Something like "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." (Come on, we know you read all those books as a young girl). Even `Ebert & Roeper' extended their fifth digits up for this one, which opened Wednesday at Cinema World and Cinemark.

Not into chick flicks? Well, "Cinderella Man," the Ron Howard-directed, Russell Crowe-starring biography of Depression-era boxer Jim Braddock, opens today, as does `Lords of Dogtown,' the feature adaptation of the Stacy Peralta documentary `Dogtown and Z-Boys,' about the genesis of competitive skateboarding in Venice Beach, Calif., in the mid-1970s.

None of those appeal to you? Guess you'll have to settle for an Odd Sunday Film Festival showing of 1984's "The Brother From Another Planet" at the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts.

Looking for something to do Saturday? Need your funny bone tickled?

Well, if you've ever seen "Whose Line Is It Anyway?' you know the routine. `A Night of Improv' is 90 minutes of comedy and song performed at the Hult Center by some of the cast of the TV show, including Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Greg Proops, Chip Esten, Brad Sherwood and Jeff Davis.

As for the music scene this week, old school punks can see Social Distortion on Sunday at the McDonald Theatre. Indie rockers can check out Built to Spill Thursday at the WOW Hall; and old-line blues lovers will of course be off to see Keb' Mo' on Tuesday at the McDonald.
