Chicago Sun-Times To Donate Portion of Newspaper Sales To Special Olympics Illinois.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Sun-Times, the city's most-read daily newspaper, is pleased to announce that on Thursday, August 20, 2009, it will donate a portion of all single-copy newspaper sales to Special Olympics Illinois.

The Sun-Times will donate 5 cents for each single-copy paper purchased that day at the regular newsstand price of 75 cents, and has pledged to make a minimum commitment of $7,250 to Special Olympics Illinois but hopes to reach at least $10,000. What's more, copies of the newspaper can be pre-ordered by Sun-Times advertisers, Chicago area companies and Special Olympics Illinois partners for just one-third of the cover price, 25 cents apiece, with 5 cents of each sale donated to Special Olympics Illinois as well. Companies that want to support Special Olympics Illinois by pre-ordering papers to give to customers or employees should contact Kristen Davis at (312) 321-2163. Companies that pre-order papers will be recognized in the Chicago Sun-Times on August 20, 2009.

"The Chicago Sun-Times is delighted to once again partner with Special Olympics Illinois and to support the achievements of local athletes right here in our city and our state," said Willie Wilkov, Vice President of Marketing for the Sun-Times News Group. "We recently partnered with Special Olympics Illinois on the successful Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby and we look forward to making another significant contribution to this inspirational and worthwhile charity."

"Special Olympics Illinois is proud to work with the Chicago Sun-Times on this fundraiser, which will help our Illinois athletes achieve their fullest potential and dreams," said Judy Bergh, Director of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships for Special Olympics Illinois. "As the Special Olympics remembers and honors our late founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, we believe it is vital to continue the mission she laid out so many years ago and that continues to be carried out today."
