Chicago Design Show Expands.More than 250 exhibitors showcase their latest designs. Design Show added an extra day, more exhibitors and the Italian Design Furniture Show to the 1999 event. The show, which was held Nov. 4-7 at Chicago's Merchandise Mart, featured more than 250 exhibitors from across North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. and Europe, an increase of 50 percent from last year. Exhibitors brought a range of furniture for every room of the house, from tables and chairs to couches, lamps and entertainment centers. The show demonstrated the variety of the furniture industry. Furniture ranged from traditional to contemporary, free-form designs, and was made from many different materials and wood species.
