Chiaro Networks Appoints Elliott Gerberg to Office of Technology; Gerberg Strengthens IP Expertise at Optical Start-up.

Elliot Gerberg has joined Chiaro Networks as Vice President, Office of Technology.

Chiaro is focused on the design and manufacture of innovative data switching solutions to remove the most challenging bottlenecks from carriers' optical backbones. This completely new class of products promises to allow carriers to deploy reliable data switching solutions with unprecedented scalability.

Gerberg was most recently with PictureTel Corporation as their Vice President of Engineering for System Products. There, Gerberg was responsible for product development, engineering, and partner development programs for Multimedia Network Products. These key network infrastructure products are a part of a new generation of products for converged networks for voice, video, and data, all over the IP protocol suite.

Prior to PictureTel, Gerberg was the Vice President of Engineering at Ennovate Networks Inc., a start-up which was seed funded by Toshiba Corporation, Japan. He led the engineering and product development of their Network-Edge Broadband IP Router product.

Gerberg also held the position of Director of Engineering in the Network Business Unit at Digital Equipment Corporation. He led on numerous engineering programs through his career at Digital, including the engineering development of multi-protocol wide-area network routers, and ATM/IP switching products. He also led the engineering team which partnered with MCI to create the first TCP/IP based Nasdaq Stock Trading network. This network won an award for technical innovation for its SMART-POP architecture from the Smithsonian Institute, Washington.

Gerberg holds his Bachelor of Science in Physics from The State University of New York at Albany and his Masters of Science in Computer Science from Boston University.
