Chiaro Networks Appoints Elliott Gerberg to Office of Technology; Gerberg Strengthens IP Expertise at Optical Start-up.

Elliot Gerberg has joined Chiaro Networks as Vice President, Office of Technology.

Chiaro is focused on the design and manufacture of innovative data switching solutions to remove the most challenging bottlenecks from carriers' optical backbones. This completely new class of products promises to allow carriers to deploy reliable data switching solutions with unprecedented scalability.

Gerberg was most recently with PictureTel Corporation as their Vice President of Engineering for System Products. There, Gerberg was responsible for product development, engineering, and partner development programs for Multimedia Network Products. These key network infrastructure products are a part of a new generation of products for converged networks for voice, video, and data, all over the IP protocol suite.

Prior to PictureTel, Gerberg was the Vice President of Engineering at Ennovate Networks Inc., a start-up which was seed funded by Toshiba Corporation (company) Toshiba Corporation - A Japanese technology manufacturer with 364 subsidiaries worldwide. Toshiba makes and sells electronics for home, office, industry and health care including information and communication systems, electronic components, heavy electrical apparatus, , Japan. He led the engineering and product development of their Network-Edge Broadband IP Router A router that is set up to route IP packets. See router and IP.  product.

Gerberg also held the position of Director of Engineering in the Network Business Unit at Digital Equipment Corporation. He led on numerous engineering programs through his career at Digital, including the engineering development of multi-protocol wide-area network routers, and ATM/IP switching products. He also led the engineering team which partnered with MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. It provides commands and functions to open, play and close the device.
