Cheyenne division of Computer Associates announces protection suite for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0.

ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1997--The Cheyenne division of Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today began shipping the industry's first integrated backup and virus protection solution for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server 5.0. Cheyenne Protection Suite version 1.1 combines Cheyenne's award-winning storage management and antivirus solutions, ARCserve 6 and InocuLAN 4, with its Backup and AntiVirus Agents for Exchange Server 5.0.

The Cheyenne division of Computer Associates was the first vendor to provide both backup and virus protection for the Exchange Server environment. Cheyenne Backup Agent - which provides information store and directory level backup of Exchange Server data, while the server is open and in use - is essential for global organizations requiring round-the-clock access to corporate messaging systems.

Similarly, Cheyenne AntiVirus Agent performs live scans for viruses in email messages and in the shared folders created by Exchange Server. Attachments to messages are scanned for viruses from all sources, including the Internet, at their point of entry to the server. If a virus is found, InocuLAN can automatically cure it, or infected documents can be deleted, renamed or moved to a safe location. InocuLAN also sends alerts - via network broadcasts, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc. , MS Mail, MS Exchange, pager or printed trouble ticket - so that corrective actions can be taken to prevent future transmissions of infected mail.
