ROSLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 1995--Cheyenne Software Inc. (AMEX:CYE) announced today that Computer Associates International Inc. (NYSE:CA), has signed a letter of intent with the company to market Cheyenne's high-performance, image-based backup and RAID 5 fault tolerance technology as options to UNIX and Microsoft Windows NT customers versions of CA-Unicenter.

The partnerships, as outlined in a previous announcement dated July 17, 1995, will provide CA-Unicenter users with an extremely high level of data management and protection for large volumes of mission-critical data residing on UNIX and Microsoft Windows NT machines.

Image backup capabilities are designed to bypass the overhead imposed by the operating system in order to achieve maximum data transfer rates at the device level. As a result, backup and restore services can be performed at accelerated speeds enabling a company to quickly resume busines operations after a server disaster.

Cheyenne's RAID 5 fault tolerance option enables the backup software to write data to multiple tape drives simultaneously in RAID formats. Therefore, the backup is not subject to media or device failure, and provides the maximum level of data integrity during restoration.
