Cheyenne Division of Computer Associates ships service pack for ARCserve 6 for NetWare.

ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 20, 1997--

Enhancements Include Compatibility With Novell IntranetWare

The Cheyenne division of Computer Associates International, Inc. today announced it is shipping a service pack for ARCserve 6 for NetWare. The service pack consolidates all current ARCserve 6 product patches and feature enhancements into a single update program, which can be downloaded from Cheyenne's Web site at www.cheyenne.com. The pack enables network administrators to implement quarterly updates of their ARCserve installations with ease.

The service pack includes a number of enhancements to ARCserve 6 for NetWare, including Novell "Yes" certification for IntranetWare compatibility. ARCserve 6 will now back up IntranetWare data as part of a network-wide solution, capable of protecting a heterogeneous mix of network servers, Internet/intranet servers, and desktop PCs. IntranetWare is Novell's platform for intranet and Internet services built on the NetWare 4 operating system operating system (OS)

"We're pleased that the growing installed base of IntranetWare users can continue to count on Cheyenne to protect Novell's existing and emerging technologies," said Denice Gibson, senior vice president and general manager of Internet Products at Novell. "ARCserve's comprehensive protection of IntranetWare will enable users to deploy intranet and Internet solutions without sacrificing the reliability and performance they count on from Cheyenne's backup solutions."

The ARCserve 6 for NetWare service pack contains a number of other enhancements, including a new tape prediction report facility, which allows administrators to view and print required media lists for jobs scheduled up to sixty days ahead. It also provides a new pruning feature, which keeps the size of the Btrieve database to a minimum by deleting duplicate detail records for AutoPilot and Rotation jobs. In addition to Cheyenne's Web site, service pack updates are available on Cheyenne's BBS (1) (Bulletin Board System) A computer system used as an information source and forum for a particular interest group. They were widely used in the U.S.  and its CompuServe forum.

"As a reseller of value-added solutions, I'm excited about being able to offer Cheyenne's ARCserve product family with IntranetWare compatibility," said John Stacey
