Chevron Phillips Chemical LP and Solvay Polymers.Chevron Phillips Chevron Phillips is a chemical producer jointly owned by Chevron Corporation and ConocoPhillips. The company was formed July 1st, 2000 by merging the chemicals operations of both Chevron Corporation and Phillips Petroleum Company. Chemical LP and Solvay Polymers announced the construction of a 700 million pounds per year high-density polyethylene (HDPE HDPE abbr. high-density polyethylene ) plant at Chevron Phillips' Baytown, TX facility. Chevron Phillips Chemical and Solvay Polymers will each own 50% of the plant, share its production of general-purpose blow molding HDPE resins and market their share of production independently. Engineering and procurement for the facility are underway, with the official start-up scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2002. Chevron also announced it has begun the modernization of its styrene sty·rene n. A colorless oily liquid from which polystyrenes, plastics, and synthetic rubber are produced.
