, Calif. -- Lubricants University, an educational website, is introducing a new course, "Fundamentals of Hydraulic Systems," as part of its on-line training portfolio. The module is a self-study, web-based program designed for hydraulic technicians, industrial maintenance specialists and lubricant sales representatives.

"Fundamentals of Hydraulic Systems" increases understanding of hydraulic system components, lubrication lubrication, introduction of a substance between the contact surfaces of moving parts to reduce friction and to dissipate heat. A lubricant may be oil, grease, graphite, or any substance—gas, liquid, semisolid, or solid—that permits free action of  procedures and potential hydraulic system problems through the convenience of a self-study web-based program. The course also reviews hydraulic oil performance specifications and trends within the fluid power industry.

"The new hydraulics hydraulics, branch of engineering concerned mainly with moving liquids. The term is applied commonly to the study of the mechanical properties of water, other liquids, and even gases when the effects of compressibility are small.  course is an efficient and cost-effective way for technicians and maintenance managers to increase their knowledge of hydraulics and value at the worksite," said John Geyer, grease marketing manager, North American North American
