Chevrolet develops new police patrol car.

Byline: Dubai

Chevrolet has developed the Caprice police patrol vehicle (PPV) for North America, that is similar to the Middle East Caprice passenger version, featuring the same 6.0L V-8 engine on all models.

While the standard V-8 engine delivers 403hp (gross), the 3.6L V-6 engine version packs 313 hp (gross) featuring SIDI (spark ignition direct injection) technology, which is also available for the LS and LTZ models.

The all-new Chevrolet Caprice PPV will feature an active fuel management technology, which allows the engine to deactivate half of its cylinders under light-load conditions to improve fuel economy.

The Caprice PPV will be available only in North America's police fleets, with production commencing in late 2010. -- TradeArabia News Service
