Chester H. Jakubiak, 88.SHREWSBURY Chester H. Jakubiak, passed away April 8th. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Hemenway) Jakubiak. He also leaves a son, Chet Jakubiak and wife Carolyn of Grafton, daughters, Nancy Colby and husband Skip and Paula Lupton and husband Bradshaw of Shrewsbury. He leaves six grandsons; Jamie, Seth and Nathan Colby of Shrewsbury, Chris Jakubiak of Grafton, David Jakubiak of Brookfield, IL, and Shaw Lupton of Boston, and five great-grandchildren. Chester served in the European Theater as a medic medic: see alfalfa. in the 90th Infantry Division during World War II. During his life, he worked as a heavy machine operator, and was owner/manager of a construction company. He also worked in the Shrewsbury Water Department for 25 years, retiring as Foreman in 1987. He served as a call fire-fighter from 1968-1985. He belonged to The Adelphi Council and the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Knights of Columbus, American Roman Catholic society for men, founded (1882) at New Haven, Conn. (where its headquarters are still located), by Father Michael J. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. , Battle of the Bulge Battle of the Bulge, popular name in World War II for the German counterattack in the Ardennes, Dec., 1944–Jan., 1945. It is also known as the Battle of the Ardennes. On Dec. 90th Division Association, Hickory Hills Square Dancers and Shrewsbury Senior Citizen's Club.
