Chester H. Jakubiak, 88.

SHREWSBURY Chester H. Jakubiak, passed away April 8th. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Hemenway) Jakubiak. He also leaves a son, Chet Jakubiak and wife Carolyn of Grafton, daughters, Nancy Colby and husband Skip and Paula Lupton and husband Bradshaw of Shrewsbury.

He leaves six grandsons; Jamie, Seth and Nathan Colby of Shrewsbury, Chris Jakubiak of Grafton, David Jakubiak of Brookfield, IL, and Shaw Lupton of Boston, and five great-grandchildren.

Chester served in the European Theater as a medic in the 90th Infantry Division during World War II. During his life, he worked as a heavy machine operator, and was owner/manager of a construction company. He also worked in the Shrewsbury Water Department for 25 years, retiring as Foreman in 1987. He served as a call fire-fighter from 1968-1985.

He belonged to The Adelphi Council and the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Ray Stone Post 238 American Legion, Battle of the Bulge 90th Division Association, Hickory Hills Square Dancers and Shrewsbury Senior Citizen's Club. He won many awards as a volunteer producer for Shrewsbury Public Access.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Allegiance Hospice, 415 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

A graveside service will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, April 13, in Mountain View Cemetery, Boylston St., Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours. Howard C. Allen Funeral Home, 653 Main St., is directing arrangements.
