SA The second in a fantasy trilogy, this volume focuses on Pheresa, a young royal aspiring to the throne. Her husband dead, she hopes to be designated as the heir. Factions question her ability, with the religious plotting their own rise and a faraway far·a·way adj. 1. Very distant; remote. 2. Artfully contrived to gain favor or confidence; ingratiating. himself to get the position. Pheresa has to marry the womanizing wom·an·ize v. woman·ized, woman·iz·ing, woman·iz·es v.intr. To pursue women lecherously. v.tr. To give female characteristics to; feminize. fop in order to get in line for the crown, and finally finds herself queen after the king is murdered. When invaders take over the palace, pregnant Pheresa escapes. only to discover that her husband has named her a traitor TRAITOR, crimes. One guilty of treason. 2. The punishment of a traitor is death. . Even old friends do not come to her aid. Pheresa has to mature quickly as a ruler--and determine who are her real supporters. While it is helpful to have read the first volume in the series, the plot is clear and complex enough to engage the reader.
